b) Or lesser than 2 floors.
c) Mature trees or shrubs?

What is Wi-Fi?
Wi-Fi (or wireless Internet) is another form of technology for Internet
access, along with dial-up, DSL, and cable. Wi-Fi is a way to deliver your high-speed Internet signal wirelessly to your computer.
As long as you are in the coverage area you can connect to our Wi-Fi network. Your account will give you access to any of
the EarthLink Wi-Fi networks nationwide. Check our coverage map to see our growing list of Wi-Fi networks.
Where can I use it?
EarthLink Wi-Fi is citywide wireless broadband–it's just how
it sounds. A high speed Internet signal is sent all around town. That way, you can get it at home, outside, at a restaurant–you
name it. The entire city is now one big wireless Internet connection.
Can any computer get the signal?
Most laptops made within the last several years are equipped with
a built-in wireless card, which receives the Wi-Fi Internet signal. Or a laptop card can be purchased that enables the same
functionality. Desktop computers need a receiving device, or wireless modem, to connect indoors. This device is similar in
size to a DSL or Cable Internet modem; the EarthLink certified Wi-Fi modem required to connect to the EarthLink network can
be rented or purchased directly through EarthLink.
So it works at home?
Absolutely. In fact, EarthLink Wi-Fi is a great way to get high-speed
Internet at home for roughly the price of dial-up service. All you need is EarthLink's certified Wi-Fi modem and you can enjoy
the same high-speed connections available around town from the convenience of your own home.
Below information provided by Sachin Palai.
The modem which we use with the Wi-Fi service is Peplink Surf 200BG.
The PePLink Surf series of Wi-Fi modems is an ideal solution to flexibly extend Citywide Wi-Fi to indoor areas.
EarthLink provides a Wi-Fi modem that is specially made to work with
its network, thus it provides the fastest, most reliable signal. The modem that EarthLink is using to provide Wi-Fi service
is the PePLink Surf 200BG. It is slightly smaller than a DSL modem and includes an antenna that customers will need to attach.
The external antenna is omni-directional and therefore receives the Wi-Fi signal at 360o. For best performance, the antenna
should be positioned vertically.
With the new Integrated Home Wi-Fi Access Point feature, the PePWave
Surf 200BG-AP and 400BG-AP can wirelessly serve an indoor local area Wi-Fi network consisting of multiple 802.11b/g devices,
and deliver a true wireless user experience.
Our modem includes encryption software so that the customer’s
connections are secure when they surf the Internet.
The firmware (user interface) is also designed specifically for EarthLink
to ensure a good customer experience.
During the initial setup, customers enter their login name and password,
allowing the modem to establish an “always-on” connection to the Internet. If the modem is ever turned off, or
if the customer logs off the network, the modem stores the login credentials and will automatically re-establish a connection
when turned back on.
So, we don't need an extra router to connect multiple computers
using our Muni Wi-Fi service. The modem can also act as a router.
